The truth is, we can’t undo the damage we’ve done to the environment, but we can influence change to operate in a more sustainable manner. We’ve retrofitted six of our service vehicles with XL Hybrid Electric Systems, and 10 more hybrid-electric service vehicles are scheduled for 2021. These systems convert traditional gas-powered vehicles into more fuel-efficient hybrids by adding an electric motor and an advanced lithium-ion battery pack, allowing our vehicles to save on fuel and reduce emissions.
We’re also encouraging customers to switch to paperless billing and have partnered with One Tree Planted to plant approximately 10,000 trees – one tree for every 10 customers that switch to paperless billing. We have eliminated single-use cups, lids and cutlery at most of our branch offices, eliminated plastic water bottles at our Head Office, and we’re thirsty for even more eco-innovation.
